The Building Department operates under a series of nationally recognized standard codes which are adopted by City Council ordinances, as well as under indirect mandates from state regulatory agencies in matters pertinent to energy, physically handicapped persons, places of assembly, and housing. |

Projects & Goals
-
Improve the Division's response to development interests by intensifying training programs for field inspection and plan check personnel.

Continue to provide inspection services to the Redevelopment Agency on all Agency projects as necessary.

Improve the image of the Division as a service organization by preparing informational articles for inclusion in the local media.

Respond to development and citizen needs for building safety inspection programs.

Development of a comprehensive disaster response plan for all Building and Safety Division personnel.
- Review and refinement of plan review process and policies.
