FIRE SEASON ARRIVES

Hemet, CA - The vegetation Fire Season in the Hemet area started with a vengeance today. Hemet Fire crews responded to three brush fires on Thursday, 4/30/2009.

Mid-morning, HFD personnel responded to the area of Devonshire and State for a small vegetation fire; at around noon, HFD personnel, with assistance from Cal Fire, extinguished an eight acre fire in the area of Mountain and Soboba. Finally, during the mid-afternoon, HFD personnel, with assistance from EMWD, extinguished a small brush fire near the aquatic center on the south side of town.

Our fire season is upon us! Our visitors, residents and business owners are further reminded to:

* Provide a 100' defensible space around your property
* Practice Fire Safety in all you do
* Use caution with barbeque grills, smoking materials and spark generating tools
* Report fires early
* Leave the fireworks to the professionals
