The
online reporting form may be used when a traffic collision occurred within the City of Hemet Limits and the identity of the driver is not known*. For example, your car was parked unattended and an unknown driver / vehicle hit your car and did not leave a note or a vehicle hit your car and then fled without stopping to exchange information.
*If you have information on the vehicle or driver that fled the scene,
do not use online reporting. Please call us at 951 765-2400.
Filing the Report
Although filing a police report with Hemet Police Department is optional, California law requires that the registered owner of a vehicle involved in any collision in which more than $750 worth of damage occurred must
report the collision to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on a Statement of Financial Responsibility form. This form, also known as an SR-1 form, can be obtained from your insurance company or the DMV.
